We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming when no one can work.
My Pastor and mentor, Steve Hill, has used this verse many times in describing why we can’t waste time in soul winning. Jesus came to this Earth on a rescue mission. He saw a people that were headed for eternal destruction in hell and He provided a way of escape! Jesus wasted no time. In His 3 years of ministry Christ was driven to preach, teach, heal, and disciple knowing that shortly He would be crucified and the work would be given to newly birthed church to carry out.
We must walk with the awareness that our time is short! We have been given a mission and “behold the harvest is plentiful… and the fields are white unto harvest.” and (John 4:34-45). My few short months in full time evangelism have been amazing. I’m amazed that every outreach we do, every church I minister in, every opportunity God gives us… there are people desperate for salvation.
We must work while it is day! The light of the gospel is shining brightly. I believe that the church in America is ripe for revival. Just a couple weeks ago, a good friend of mine was in a restaurant, and he asked the young woman who was waiting on him if she had ever heard the gospel. Surprisingly she said no. There was a simple presentation of the gospel given, from the fall of man, to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, and even into the second coming of Christ. This young woman immediately said she needed that and repented and gave herself to Jesus! This didn’t happen in some third world nation that we assume has never heard the gospel. This happened in the Bible belt not even 5 minutes away from a major Bible University.
The day is growing dimmer. The return of Christ is eminent! And there is a great end time revival harvest that is ahead of us! America is not the Christian nation it was just a few years ago. But you want to know what the beauty of revival is? God doesn’t revive things that are already on healthy, living and on fire. Revival comes to dry and dead places that need resurrection. I’d say America is a prime candidate. But it will only come if every one of us does our part!
The Bible says that the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few and to pray to the Lord of the harvest that He send forth laborers. This puts every believer in one of two categories. Either you are a person active in seeing the harvest come in or you are an individual that someone is praying would become a laborer.
Are you doing your part to see the harvest come in? Are you sharing the love of Jesus with others? Are you giving your time, energy, and finances to support soul saving work? Lets work together to see the greatest harvest of souls that history has ever seen!
